Born in Osaka, Japan, 1982. Lives and works in Nagoya. Graduated from Kyoto Seika University (2006) and from the MFA program of Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music (2008). In his series of sculptures made from ready-made products, the entire surface of each material is shaved down by a few millimetres, stripping away the information that used to prove what the object was. The forms remain almost identical to the originals, yet the essential clues are gone: encountering them is like suddenly running into someone you are certain you have met before, without being able to recall where, or their name. Above all, beneath the thin skin of these banal everyday goods lie dazzling colours and a richness of texture, so that the works stay side by side with familiarity while offering a visual experience found nowhere else.
