We are pleased to announce the solo exhibition Void by Vienna-based artist Lotte Lyon at our gallery. This marks her sixth solo exhibition with us since 2015.
Lyon’s works are rooted in everyday materials, inviting visitors to engage with space, time, and their own physical experience. Her simple box-like sculptures, made of plywood, fabric, and locally sourced paints, are designed at a scale that evokes the intimate comfort of familiar furniture, creating a harmonious balance between space and human interaction. These sculptures go beyond surface observation, subtly inviting the viewer’s perspective to shift through color fields and patterns inspired by nature and phenomena. This interaction fosters evolving relationships between the works, the surrounding space, and the participants, forming fluid sequences and pathways of movement and time.
Her wall drawings, with their minimalist patterns, emphasize the interplay between lines and empty space, quietly transforming the perception of the environment with just a few deliberate marks.
These works transcend the physical presence of objects, uncovering connections between space and people, and offering visitors a poetic and reflective experience.
This exhibition features eight new pieces from Lyon’s wall-mounted sculpture series, shown for the first time in Japan, alongside site-specific wall paintings that reinterpret the entire exhibition space as a sculptural experience, inspiring fresh discoveries.
We warmly invite you to experience this long-anticipated exhibition. We look forward to welcoming you.
