There is a bus stop. Somewhere in Germany. Just outside of nursing home for people with Alzheimer and dementia. Staff finds missing patients there. They are waiting for buses to go back. Except it is not a real bus stop. A make believe. Replica. Placebo. “A medicine or procedure prescribed for the psychological benefit to the patient rather than for any physiological effect.” A driving instructor would tell you that the car you are learning to drive has to become the part of you. You don’t think about moving your legs when you walk, do you? She asks. And she answers her question too. [Nice one] You just move your legs. Just like that. Left leg forward then move your right leg forward. Left and right. Left and right. Left. Right. Left. Right. I remember driving being tiring. Being conscious of the constant stream, the next moves. Left. Right. Left then right. I am no longer aware of this series of actions. Have I become the part of the machine? Conceptually it is wrong. Very wrong. That is why Google glasses are so wrong. Still I cannot help myself peeping through the venetian blinds of my studio. Looking at my car parked outside. Just checking to see if it is alright. Alright from what, though. It is a sunny day. Very sunny. Let’s put some UV cream. I see a traffic warden walks by checking all the cars on the street. I look at him looking at my car. Now I am counting possibilities.
